We are looking for a Mathematics or Science teacher to join our Yishun centre — someone who wants to teach people rather than rooms, and who would rather be part of a small team than a staff list.
Ask any teacher what they love about the job and almost nobody says the syllabus. They say a student. A particular one, who finally got it.
That is the part we protect. Our classes are kept small on purpose, which means you are not managing a crowd — you are working with people whose names, habits and blind spots you actually know. It also means the wins are visible. You see the moment something clicks, and you were the reason.
Around that, we try to be a place people are glad to come to. The team is small enough that everyone knows what everyone else is teaching, and nobody has to solve a problem alone.
A student who is embarrassed will not tell you what they do not understand. That is the real barrier in most classrooms, and no worksheet solves it — the relationship does.
Here you have the time and the room size to build that. You learn who needs to be pushed and who needs to be left alone for five minutes. You notice when a normally chatty student goes quiet. You get the question that starts with "this is probably stupid, but —", which is the most valuable question a student ever asks.
Our students stay with us for years, and many of them come back after their exams just to say hello. That does not happen because of our materials.
That line has been on our wall since the beginning, and we mean it about the workplace as much as the classroom.
Birthdays get celebrated. Jokes run for far too long. Nobody performs seriousness at each other to prove they are working hard. We take the teaching seriously and take ourselves a lot less seriously, and the students can tell the difference immediately — a teacher who is enjoying themselves is the easiest teacher in the world to learn from.
If you have worked somewhere that felt like a factory floor, this will not feel like that.
You will not be a name on a rota who arrives, teaches, and leaves. Our teachers know what the others are covering, swap what worked and what flopped, and think out loud together about a student who is stuck.
Nobody guards their material here. If you find a better way to explain something, it spreads through the centre by the end of the week — and if you are the one who is stuck, you will have help before you have to ask twice.
It is a small team by choice. That is what makes it possible to actually know the people you work with.
You would teach one subject, not both — whichever one you know deeply enough to explain three different ways. Pick the track that sounds like you.
Math is where students decide, earlier than anywhere else, whether they are "the kind of person who is good at this". Change a student's mind about that and you have changed something that lasts far longer than one exam.
We want someone who finds a wrong answer more interesting than a right one — because that is where the student actually is, and where the teaching actually starts.
Science students rarely freeze because they do not know the answer. They freeze because they cannot get what is in their head onto the page in a way that earns the mark — and nobody has sat with them long enough to show them how.
We want someone who still finds the subject genuinely interesting, because that is the part students copy from you without ever noticing they are doing it.
Students remember how a teacher made them feel. Long after the topic.
Every one of us can name the teacher who made us believe we could do something. That is the job, underneath all of it. If that is the kind of work you want to be doing, and the kind of people you want to do it with, we should talk.
