What we cover

Algebra confidence.
Science vocabulary.

MOE-aligned. Updated each year against the latest seminar guides and exam reports.

01
Algebra fluency before Sec 3 demands it
Most Sec 3 stumbles trace back to shaky Sec 1–2 algebra. Expansion, factorisation and equation-solving drilled until automatic — so quadratics and calculus later stand on a foundation that holds.
02
Geometry that earns method marks
Angles, congruence, similarity, mensuration — taught with the proof structure markers reward. Clear logic, justified steps, units always checked.
03
Science answer chains from Day 1
Cells, kinetic theory, electricity, forces — taught with the Claim-Evidence-Reasoning structure G3 expects. The habit is built before the stakes are.
04
Exam habits, locked in early
Time-trials, common traps, the silly-mistake patterns that cost marks every paper. Built into the routine in Sec 1–2, not crammed in the final term.
05
Calibrated to the class
Pacing, examples and topic emphasis are tuned to the Lower Sec cohort in front of us. Every class arrives with a different mix of strengths, gaps and pace — so each session is planned around what the class needs rather than a fixed script.
06
Every WA tracked & teacher-monitored
Weekly Assignment results are logged against each student by topic, by question type, by week. Teachers review trajectories weekly — not at term-end — so weak spots are caught and revisited before the Sec 3 subject-level decisions arrive.

Common questions.

How much is Lower Secondary Math & Science tuition at Genie?
Per 8-week term, materials included: Sec 1 Math or Science $496 per 8-week term ($62.00 per session); Sec 2 Math or Science $512 per 8-week term ($64.00 per session). Classes are capped at 10 students and run at both branches — Bukit Batok (Blk 265 Bukit Batok East Ave 4 #01-393) and Yishun (417 Yishun Ave 11 #01-339). Take two or more subjects and the rate drops 10%. The first trial lesson is free.
Do you cover both G3 and G2?
Yes — G3 and G2 are taught in the same Lower Secondary class, with the teaching differentiated to each student's current subject level. Subject levels aren't fixed in Sec 1–2, so a G2 student masters their own assessed syllabus first and is stretched with selected G3-level work when they are ready — no one is caught short if they move up.
Can my child catch up if they join mid-term?
Yes — we can arrange short 1-to-1 bridging sessions to fast-track new joiners up to where the current class is. How much bridging is needed depends on the topics already covered and the gaps we find.
Is this aligned to the new GCE syllabus?
Yes. Materials are reviewed yearly against the current MOE syllabus and the published national examination reports.
Can a Sec 2 student start now mid-year?
Yes. New joiners get a quick diagnostic and a tailored catch-up plan.
What changes from primary school to Sec 1?
In Math, the big shift is from model drawing to algebra — same logic, new language. In Science, structured answers start to matter. Sec 1 is also when subject-based banding begins. More here: model method to algebra.
My child is G3 for one subject and G2 for another — is that normal?
Yes — that’s exactly how Full SBB works. Students take each subject at the subject level they’re strongest in, and our classes align to each subject’s level.
Can a student move from G2 to G3?
Schools may offer a student a subject at a more demanding level based on their performance, interests and readiness; the criteria and the timing sit with the school, within MOE guidelines. Consolidating early keeps the option open.
How big are the classes?
Capped at 10 students at both branches. Every paper is marked by name.
How do I book a free trial?

Each term covers 8 weekly lessons — we run 8-week cycles rather than following the 10-week MOE school terms. Missed lessons are credited into the next term — credit applies for public holidays, school holidays, official school activities, and absences with a medical certificate.
