P4 is the first year Science asks for written explanations, not just multiple choice. Children who can talk about a topic confidently freeze when asked to write "Explain why" or "Describe what happens" — because nobody's taught them the answer structure markers want.

We teach the C–E–R sentence frame (Claim · Evidence · Reasoning) from P4 onwards — the structured-answer habit that every PSLE OEQ rewards. Drilled weekly until writing the answer feels as natural as saying it.

Most lost marks are habit, not knowledge. We track them, name them, and drill them out.
P4 question: 'Why is iron used to make pots and pans?' Most P4 students answer 'because it is hard'. Worth 1 mark out of 2. Our students learn to add the why-the-property-matters: 'Iron is a good conductor of heat. It allows heat from the stove to be transferred quickly to the food, cooking the food evenly.' Two marks, every time. P4 is when the muscle is built. By P6 it's automatic.
No surprises. The structure is the same week to week — students settle in fast.
